Amine Lymphedema Center

2022: Events

  • The Lymphedema Clinic project in Medea is underway and making good progress under the supervision of the Aschifaa association in partnership with WAHA and MAHF.

The project needs around $50K to be completed. Once completed, the clinic will be able to treat patients from all of Algeria and serve as a model for similar clinics in other parts of the country. It will also become a training center for the treatment of lymphedema cases.

  • An 18 months old child with a large tumor was successfully treated in New Delhi, India. This was another successful collaboration between MAHF and WAHA. Attempts to have the child treated in France or Turkey was very expensive. India was a good alternative (all inclusive).

  • An Algerian physical therapist was selected to follow a technical training in Germany on the use of a Lymphedema press machine. Two (2) machines have been purchased by MAHF and have being shipped to Medea. The training which lasted 4 weeks was paid for by WAHA. Upon her return to Algeria, she will train additional physical therapists (train the trainer) and start identifying patients for treatment.
The plan is also to setup a schedule for visiting doctors from all parts of Algeria to come train in Medea.
